Are You A Trivia
Buff?

Creating A Live Multimedia Trivia
Contest

A major black entertainment company was
looking for an interactive trivia contest that could be staged
with customers in it's restaurant. Working with producer Duane
Ross, JKT Media was given 8 weeks to create an interactive
trivia program including scoring and personalization that was
based upon over 1,000 client-suppllied questions and answers in
four areas of black culture.
What moved this project out of an ordinary
multimedia parameters was a requirement that the contestants
not use a mouse to participate. instead, the client stipulated
that the program be run from a control room while an emcee and
the contestants, standing on a stage in the restaurant,
interacted with the game on a large projection screen.
Using Tookbook and it's Openscript scripting
language, we were able to develop a self-looping database of
questions and answers, and substitute keystrokes by an operator
for the traditional mouse clicks. The project was developed and
delivered on time and on budget.
In fact, the contest was so successful that
the client requested a second version based on Gospel trivia.
This version was developed using the first program's engine and
delivered in only 3 weeks.
